This course will help occupational and physical therapists assist breast cancer recovery clients by building confidence and regaining function through specialized therapeutic exercises. Each learner will gain an understanding of breast cancer, its side-effects, and how to safely and effectively work different muscle groups affected by treatment and surgery, to optimize the recovery process. Joel Desotelle, MS OTR/L
Joel is an occupational therapist who specializes in neurological disorders in children and adults. He received his Bachelors of Science (B.S) degree in occupational therapy from Keuka College (Keuka Park, NY) in 1995 and his post-graduate Masters of Science (M.S.) degree from Misericordia University (Dallas, PA) in 2010. He holds a post-graduate certificate in pediatrics from Misericordia University (2006) and has worked in a variety of settings from out-patient pediatrics to in-patient adults. Joel is an experienced author and instructor who has presented on a wide range of topics including stroke rehab, neuromuscular disorders, autism, sensory dysfunction, dementia, falls, and outcomes-based therapy. Sherry Rickman, DPT Sherry received her bachelor's of science degree in Health and Human Performance from the University of Tennessee. She then completed doctorate at at Belmont University in Nasheville, TN. Since that time she has worked in a variety of settings including long-term care, acute care, and outpatient orthopedics.

About the Authors: Anna Schwartz, ARNP, PhD, FAAN Dr. Schwartzz, is an author, researcher, educator, and advanced practice nurse practitioner. She currently hold the Scottsdale Healthcare Research endowed chair and serves as an associate research professor at Arizone State University. Dr. Schwartz's career achievements include research to improve the quality of life for cancer patients through physical activity and symptom management. She has been published in more than 25 journals and publications and has authored or co-authored seven book chapters. Naomi Aaronson, MA, OR/L Naomi is an occupational therapist and fitness instructor. She developed "Recovercises" program for breast cancer survivors and is a nationally known author whose work has been published in many magazines including "Active Aging."
